About us

Our pet care philosophy

Founded in 1980, the Bendigo Animal Hospital is headed by Dr Max Tori and Dr Chris Allison. Our experienced team of veterinary staff not only love helping animals but are committed to offering the highest standards in small animal veterinary care.

More than an animal hospital, we are your pet’s general practitioner, dentist, surgeon, pharmacist, paediatrician, obstetrician, radiologist, nutritionist, intensive-care team, animal health advice centre, pet store, vet emergency centre and after-hours vet team.

Our pet care philosophy is to always provide quality, affordable vet care for your pets, with friendly and trustworthy service.

    • Create a welcoming fear-free environment in which you and your pet feel comfortable.

    • Always be professional, without losing a friendly and personable touch.

    • Be approachable, supportive, compassionate and empathetic.

    • Use the most up-to-date medical equipment, technology, products, and procedures when treating your pets.

    • Maintain the highest levels of vet clinic cleanliness.

    • Continually improve our skills through ongoing training and development programmes so that we can each provide you and your pets with the highest standards of animal health care and professional advice.

    • Create a happy, positive and enjoyable place to work, where all team members’ talents are recognised, encouraged, and nurtured.

    • Be the vet clinic your pets would recommend!

Community Service & Animal Health Initiatives

Bendigo Animal Hospital and its staff are proud members of the community of Central Victoria. We are a proudly privately owned local business. That’s why we believe it's important to support—and give back to—the community in which we live. Motivated by this belief, some years ago we started exploring ways to help worthwhile local causes on a regular basis.

The initiative we chose to embrace was donating part of the fee for our pet toenail clips to local good causes. We were greatly encouraged by our first endeavour, which was assisting a local family in raising funds so their son could obtain one of Bendigo's Righteous Pups.

Since that time, we’ve assisted a variety of local charities and not-for-profit organizations and continue to do so.

Thank you for your generosity and support!

To date, this program has been enormously successful, and we are proud that so many of our clients have chosen to contribute in such a practical and continuing way to the community to which we jointly belong.

Keep current with our local involvement by following Bendigo Animal Hospital's Facebook page, and subscribing to our Blog.

Wildlife Care

As part of our service to the community, we will admit and treat wildlife cases free of charge. When these amazing animals have injuries which can be treated and there is a good chance that they can be returned to the wild, we use an extensive network of wildlife carers to rehabilitate and release them.
